The COVID pandemic has claimed four more lives in Broome County.

County Executive Jason Garnar December 8 announced a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 80s, a man in his 90s and a woman in her 90s passed away bringing Broome County’s death toll to 145 from the pandemic.  There were 96 new cases in Broome as the coronavirus spike continues. Broome is on the edge of breaking the 6,000 mark for the number of positive coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.  The county December 8 reported a total of 5,901cases.

There were 39 new cases in Cortland County for a total of 1,662, 18 new cases in Delaware County for a total of 464, 15 additional cases in Chenango County for a total of 739 cases and 14 new cases in Tioga County for a total of 1,299 since the start of the pandemic in March.

Aside from Broome, there were no additional deaths reported in any of the Southern Tier counties December 8.
