The number of positive test results has risen by ten to 225 as hospitals in Broome are able to expand the screenings. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says the hospitals have nine thousand test kits that will allow residents with mild symptoms to be tested with a physician’s order.

Tioga County reports two new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing its total to 65 coronavirus positives. Four deaths have been reported.

Chenango County has 79 cases, one of those new. Cortland County reported no new cases again yesterday, leaving the total at 25 and the last report from Delaware County left the positive number unchanged at 62.

Also on the health front, Governor Andrew Cuomo April 21 announced hospitals in parts of New York will be able to resume elective surgeries, a large part of revenue for health care facilities.  The Governor says those surgeries can resume next week in areas without a significant COVID-19 surge, if the hospital capacity is at 25% based on the population of its home county and if there are fewer than 10 coronavirus-related hospital admissions over ten days.
