Broome Man Released After Being Arraigned on 5 Felony Counts

A suspect who had been sought for more than a month was found in downtown Binghamton, arraigned on nearly a dozen charges and released on his own recognizance.

Authorities say 31-year-old Robert Kinzer of Deposit was taken into custody on Hawley Street around 3 p.m. Monday.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Kinzer had been involved in a domestic dispute in the village of Deposit on New Year's Day. He fled before police arrived.

An arrest warrant was issued. When Kinzer was approached by police in Deposit on January 8, he ran off, evading officers.

The sheriff's office warrant division received a tip about Kinzer's whereabouts and took him into custody as he was preparing to meet his probation officer.

Kinzer faces five felony counts, including robbery, burglary, weapon possession, aggravated family offense and grand larceny. He also was charged with six misdemeanors, including criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest.

Kinzer was arraigned on the charges and released for future court action.
