Garnar submitted plans for a county-wide shared services plan in 2017 and says the program has been successful in cutting costs on the municipal levels.

In 2018, projects saved Broome County $3.1 million.  Under the state’s matching program, New York paid back $3.1 million.  That Shared Services Initiative has been extended through 2021.

The County Executive says major projects in the 2020 plan focus on improving public safety as work is underway on building new radio towers for emergency communications and plans to install stop-arm safety and enforcement cameras on school buses in districts in Broome were recently announced.
