There have been 21 suspected fatal overdoses and 147 reported non-fatal overdoses in the first three months of this year while, the Health Department says, in 2021 there was a total of 54 suspected fatal overdoses and 516 reported non-fatal overdoses.

The Broome Opioid Awareness Council (BOAC) is again urging those with a substance use disorder to practice harm reduction strategies, do not use alone, have a fentanyl test kit and a Narcan overdose reversal kit available and, if anyone is on the scene of an overdose to call 911 immediately.
