A discussion on the biological science of addiction is being held April 26 at the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center in Vestal.

Doctor Anushree Karkhanis from Binghamton University heads a research group looking into neurological changes associated with addiction.


Unraveling the Neurobiology of Addiction looks at genetic and environmental factors that alter brain chemistry making certain individuals more vulnerable to addition that others.

The information could be valuable as drug an alcohol addiction carries a stigma is society that often puts the blame entirely on the person suffering from an addiction disorder.
