According to an article earlier this month in USA Today, Binghamton is one of the top 50 cities people are fleeing.

Binghamton is listed at 34 on the list, Syracuse at 13 and Rochester at 16. The number one city people are moving out of is Chicago.

The July 5 article reports Binghamton’s population decrease due to migration between 2010 and 2017 was 9,470 with a population changes of -3.8%.  There were 18,295 births and 18,409 deaths.

Chicago, Naperville and Elgin in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin showed migration population loss of 296,320 a population change of +.8% with births out-pacing deaths by over 367,000.
