BGM Gets $1.5 Million Airport Infrastructure Money
Some regional airports in the Southern Tier and Central New York are sharing in a total of $20.7 million from New York State to make infrastructure improvements.
The Greater Binghamton airport is getting $1.5 million for lighting and replacement of the revenue control system.
$200,000 is going to the Lieutenant Warren Eaton Airport in Chenango County for jet hanger energy improvements and general rehabilitation.
Chase Field in Cortland County is getting $1.1 million to go toward replacing underground fuel storage tanks. Those old fuel tanks currently sit over a single-source aquifer.
New York State Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo called the grant to the Binghamton airport “very positive news.” The Endwell Democrat says the improvement will help BGM to better position itself for development.
Lupardo says she hopes the field in the Town of Maine will fair well in the latest grant round for Upstate Airport Revitalization funds.
