Woman’s ‘Cheap’ Valentine’s Day Gift Turns out to Be Worth a Lot More
Valentine's Day was last week and a lot of people spend a lot of money on the holiday, but not one husband.
One of the most popular gifts given on Valentine's Day is jewelry, but that's not what this husband gave. He didn't give his wife a certificate to the spa, or even flowers..., he gave a gift that most women would hate and his wife did...initially.
Meet Cynthia and Don Holmes. Cynthia and Don life in Clive Iowa, which is just outside of Des Moines and according to the Iowa Lottery website Don purchased a $10 scratch-off for his Valentine's Day gift to his wife. Cynthia wasn't too impressed. She told the Iowa Lottery that as soon as he gave it to her she thought, "Oh that's really expensive."
But Cynthia couldn't have been more wrong. When she scratched off her ticket, she learned that it was worth $100,000. Cynthia still wasn't falling for it though- she didn't believe that the ticket was real. Maybe her husband is a prankster?
When she checked the ticket, Cynthia learned that it wasn't a joke- it was a big winner. So, she went from being ungrateful that her husband had only spent $10 on her, to paying off her car and paying off their house as well. I'm guessing that will be the best Valentine's Day gift she will ever receive.
I guess it's true what they say... "hey you never know."
