Throwback Thursday: The First Ladies of Saturday Night Live

VH1 Classic announced this week that it would be running 19 days of nothing but Saturday Night Live episodes and I was ecstatic!

The original 'Not Ready for Primetime Players' was my favorite cast and this is a tip of the hat to the ladies of that group. If it weren't for them, female comedians like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler may not have been brought to us.

It was 1975. Gilda Radner was hired right after creator Lorne Michaels. The cast was fleshed out with Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman. The men were John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris and Chevy Chase.

We've heard enough about the guys. Let's celebrate the girls!
