It's the end of August which means the kids will be going back to school soon and it also means it's time for The Great New York State Fair. My wife Chris and I try and get to the state fair every year. We go up for the food, (especially the corn on the cob which is amazing there) we check out the live music at The Chevy Court Stage, and we check out all the exhibits including the animal buildings. This year will be out of town on vacation for most of the State Fair, so we're hoping to get up there this Sunday.

Chevy Court is the free concert area that will feature a lot of classic rockers this year. Some of the bands that will be playing on the free stage at the New York State Fair include; the band Live followed by the Counting Crows on Saturday, Jackyl on Sunday, Peter Noone will be there Monday afternoon, former Allman Brother Dickey Betts will be live in concert Tuesday, August 28th, Saturday, September 1st will feature Collective Soul at 2 and ZZ Top at 8 p.m.

The State Fair will be full of great food from vendors all across New York State. You can get a list and a map of what food is available and where it's located here.

Another highlight from the New York State Fair is all the amusement rides and the Midway. My wife and I always play a few games of "Got It" while we sip on some beers.

The Great New York State Fair runs every day through Labor Day at the Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
