July 16th was a big day in Classic Rock. It was the 50th anniversary of the first show for the Rolling Stones.  Technically, they were the 'Rollin' Stones'. It was at the Marquee Club where their long journey began.

50 years later, we have been waiting to celebrate all year. We got word, thanks to his loose lips, from Keith Richards that the Rolling Stones will be rehearsing this month.  For what? According to Richards' Q Magazine interview "We've got some shows in London, I believe, and in New York...."

It's about time! But is it too late? For me it is. We're going to celebrate an anniversary of one of the biggest Rock groups ever during the busiest and most expensive time of the year.

Now, is it just me or is that odd planning? How many people have disposable income to see the Stones in New York in November (or December)? In July, we expect to go to shows, but not during the Holidays.

There is a reason the concert season shuts down for the Holidays.

We have presents to shop for, fuel oil to buy  to heat our homes with and taxes to catch up on. Some diehard Rolling Stones fans, who live and breathe the group, will miss out on this once in a lifetime event.  It could be the last time the band performs live.

And they wait until the Holidays.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Rolling Stones. I just wish they would've thought of their fans when they scheduled their celebration.

Well, that's how the cookies crumble.

Happy anniversary Rolling Stones and thanks for sharing your sound! We still love you.
