Maybe hate is too strong a word. How about frustrated? Now I understanding that vehicles - cars, trucks, vans, whatever, are expensive things to own and maintain.

I have two vehicles. One is a conversion van and the other is a small car. The van is 19 years old, and the car is 12 years old. When I purchased each, they were about five or six years old.

I knew that parts would be wearing out sooner than later and would need to be replaced at some point in time, so I purchased an extended warranty for both vehicles, but you know how that turns out. Nothing breaks until the warranty expires. And that has been my case with both vehicles.

Now I fully realize car repairs are a part of life, but can't things break down in some sort of timeline rather than all at once? OK, not exactly all at once, but there have been several times during my ownership that soon after something is repaired or replaced, some other part breaks down. I must mention, I'm very thankful to the great mechanics who have been given the task of keeping my wrecks on the road.

Lately, I've been thinking about trading in my conversion van, (rust is beginning to get worse) but so many parts have been replaced in the past couple of years, I'm not sure it's a good idea to let it go and purchase another used vehicle (new is not an option right now) and start the cycle all over again. These are the things that keep me awake at night. Such is life...and vehicles.
