The Binghamton Pond Festival is held every year at the Chenango Valley State Park in Chenango Forks.

It starts this Friday with an event called "Try Hockey for Kids". It's a free event where they help little kids try the sport of hockey, many of them for the first time.

Saturday and Sunday according to the Binghamton PondFest website will be the "Youth House Level Outdoor Weekend".

The following weekend will feature a skating clinic put on by North American Hockey Systems. And then the weekend of January 25th. is when the adults take the ice.

The entire event takes place outside. But, the year I went, they had the stone building open with the fireplaces going so you could warm up if you needed to. There will be fireworks lighting up the night sky on January 26th.

It's an awesome event. Even if you don't understand hockey, you can go and watch and support a great cause. They usually have live music and there are beer and food for sale.

According to their website, there is a $10 suggested parking donation. Proceeds benefit the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. And if you

I didn't make it out last year but I was there the year before and I am definitely going to be there to see some of the action this year.
