What does a guy do when he is billionaire several times over? He sets out to right an historical wrong.

On April 15, 1912, RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg killing 1,502 people on board. It's builders claimed that the largest ship of its time was unsinkable. Sadly, they were wrong and ill prepared for an accident of this magnitude.

Australian billionaire Clive Palmer is setting out to build an almost identical ship to Titanic. There will be a few modifications. A wider ship to meet current regulations, an extra bridge to make visibility better and plenty of lifeboats.

It is widely agreed that the loss of life on Titanic would have been considerably less had there been sufficient lifeboats. Palmer also pointed out that had the extra bridge been in place, the iceberg would have been detected in time. The extra width is for added stability, which also was a negative on Titanic.

Shipyards in Europe and China will be tasked with building the behemoth Titanic sequel.

Granted, the horrific sinking of RMS Titanic continues to be an iconic story, but does it deserve a Titanic II?  I don't think so. You can't recreate history, you can't change it and this huge loss of life should be left in peace.

I'm just glad that the survivors won't be here to be traumatized by the "resurrection" of Titanic. Yes, there will be modern technology on board, but being superstitious, I think Clive Palmer is tempting fate.

Titanic II is expected to be ready to set sail in 2016.  Would you go?
