Yesterday I had a couple of Strange But True stories about hamburgers. The first one was a hamburger place in North Carolina that is making a cheeseburger with a whole oven roasted tarantula on top. You can see pictures on the Foodbeast website. They didn't cut up the tarantula and blend it in with the meat or anything, they just plopped it on top and threw it in the oven.

I'm sorry but I have to ask, why? Why would you eat this? Unless you are just starving for attention, there is no reason for this. I can't imagine a tarantula tasting good. I'm not a big fan of spiders to begin with, so I have no desire to eat one. If you do finish it, you get a Tarantula Challenge T-shirt. You can see pictures of that on the Foodbeast website as well. Hurry before the rolling stones hit them with a cease and desist.

The other story was about a new burger at Chili's called the Boss Burger. According to Foodbeast, they are only selling it at a handful of locations. I'm not sure if it is available in the Vestal location or not, and it's not clear if they will sell it nationwide. But this, I would try. It's a half pound beef patty, topped with bacon, jalapeno cheddar smoked sausage, a smoked brisket, and rib meat. Then they add cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce, and ranch dressing. I would probably have to split that with one, two, or three people, being that the calories total 1650. And to put that into perspective, that's the same amount of calories as three Big Macs.

Many years ago, I was challenged to try to eat a two and a half pound cheeseburger and a pound and a half of fries at a place on Vestal Avenue in Binghamton called the Director's Cut. The Director's Cut is long gone, but if I can find those pictures, I'll blog about that as well.
