What Are New York Southern Tier Residents’ All-Time Favorite Dishes?

What is the best meal you have ever had at a New York Southern Tier restaurant? I know that could be a hard question to answer.

For me, one of my best meals involves Lasagna, and there are several local restaurants that serve it up perfectly, in my opinion. I can't say one is better than the other. The same goes for my favorite breakfast. It's gotta be Eggs Benedict for me, and again, I have found several local restaurants and diners that make it just right.

Anyway, recently I threw one of my gotta know questions up on social media - the one above, and to my surprise, I received hundreds of responses. Add to that surprise, some ideas to check out meals I have not yet tried at our local restaurants.

Granted, some establishments are no longer in business, but it's nice to reminisce. Sorry in advance that I couldn't get all the responses in this article, but I was able to get quite a few before my fingers got tired of typing, and thanks to all who responded.

• Kevin F. - Cortese Chicken Parm with sides of eggplant and angel hair pasta.
• Shawn C. - NY Pizzeria in New Berlin.
• Corky C. -  Shrimp scampi parm at Gance’s with homemade spaghetti.
• Samuel M. -  Prime Rib at Donoli's.
• Steve C. -  The Old Union Hotel's chicken wings and onion rings.
• James G. - Years ago, the Silo prime rib. RIP, Gary Kurz.
• Jamie H. -  The linguine with clams at Cacciatore's!! Also, the bread, because, well, their bread is a meal all by itself! Yum!

• Joanna O. - Mac & Cheese at The Park Diner. THE BEST.
• Robert K. -  Crazy as it sounds - clam bake at Mountain Top Grove.
• Chris C. - Moreys on Upper Front Street. For our anniversary dinner, we had chateaubriand, steamed broccoli with a sauce, and a mushroom risotto.
• Jessica W. - The Chilean Sea Bass at Downtown Chef by Jay Pisculli (I opt to pair with risotto rather than potatoes.)
• Neck P. -  Remlick's pork chops.
• Ted S. -  Don’t know if it would be considered the Southern Tier, but the 3 Bears Inn in Marathon used to serve a fantastic Prime Rib buffet. Unfortunately, it is no more.
• Gary K. - Might not be considered a meal by all, but a cheese pizza and antipasto at Cortese Restaurant.
• Becky M. - Tiki fries at Hurricane Rielly’s. Big enough portion to be a meal with leftovers. Miss that place.
• Dreama S. - Years ago, Greek food at the Argo.
• Craig R. - Korba's restaurant, prime rib! I worked there, so I know everything was awesome.
• Sandy W. - The 16oz. Delmonico from Tony's in Endicott.
• Anne A. - Bozych Greek Tenderloin at Number 5. Best meal ever.
• Ron R. - I always get veal & peppers at Cortese! Classic dish that never fails!

• Mark L. - Aielos in Whitney Point makes a really good Sicilian eggplant Parmesan.

• Teri A. - Just had Fettuccine Alfredo from ORIGINAL ITALIAN on Washington Ave. Endicott, and it was the best I've ever had. And it was takeout. Delicious.

• Claudia K. -  The end cut of prime rib, done to perfection at Morey's Restaurant. The Baked Alaska was the perfect dessert.
• Corky C. - Shrimp scampi parm at Gance’s with homemade spaghetti.

  Joan M. - All you can eat King Crab legs at The Bullshead.
• Jennifer R. -Big Zues... their brisket is outstanding and the mac and cheese is fantastic.
• Lillian A. - Honey Mustard chicken pizza from Nirchies Vestal, or the turkey bacon club at Skylark!
• Beth M. - Lost Dog Chicken Lemongrass Dumplings, Short rib Mac and Cheese, and their spinach artichoke dip.
