Construction is moving forward on the project transforming an abandoned factory into the new home of Binghamton University's nursing school.

The Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences will relocate from the Vestal campus to a 113,000-square-foot building on Corliss Avenue in Johnson City.

Workers are busy inside and outside the former Endicott Johnson Pioneer Annex, which is located east of the university's recently-opened pharmacy school building.

Renovation work at the century-old factory building began about 13 months ago.

According to a university website, flooring, painting, electrical and plumbing work are underway at the site.

Furniture for labs, classrooms, offices, meeting rooms and other spaces was being finalized.

The nursing school is expected to move to the Johnson City complex early next year.

Plans for a Binghamton University research and development center to be constructed between the nursing and pharmacy school buildings are being finalized.
