Who Knew Activities Could Be Fun?
I'm one of those people who pretty much have a set life schedule. I go to work and I go home. Unless there is an outside radio station event, that is.
Pretty simple I guess, and probably boring to some, but it works for me. Obviously I do deviate from that busy schedule in the summer by heading to the campground on weekends and vacations.
Even there (at the campground) where they have many weekend activities, I tend to avoid them. Well, this past week, I decided to haul my butt out of the camper and participate in team trivia that occurs a few times during the camping season.
Not sure what possessed me to do so, but I decided it was time to break the monotonous schedule and go for something fun. My fear was that I'm going to bomb with each question asked, or go blank when I really knew the correct answer. Isn't it always the way?
My trivia partner and I were the only team of eight that had just two on a team. I knew right there, we were going to get crushed. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The odds were still going to be against us, I thought.
There were two trivia question rounds - each with ten questions, followed by a bonus question where you could wager up to 100 of your points, should you have any. So. the first round, we surprisingly got nine out of ten questions correct. I was floored! We were in second place. The second round, we got seven out of ten. Now we are in a tie for first place with two other teams. Crazy.
We bet the full 100 points and hoped for maybe 3rd place. Well, one of the other first place teams got the answer wrong, and the other team had no answer. We got the question right, and won first place. That was my first time trying team trivia. Holy crap. That was an awesome feeling! And 25 dollars richer.
I'll be back, and ready to defend our title of team trivia kings. Probably will choke, though.
