Can I ask for your help again this year? It's a pretty simple task. As you know, for over 20 years, Townsquare Media has been organizing a week-long food drive to assist families in need around the holiday season.

We began with our morning personality spending seven days in a camper, collecting food with the intention of filling up the camper to the point that he would have no room left to move around the camper. Years later, when he and his family moved out of the area, we had to re-think our effort. But we figured it out, and it's been a successful food drive thanks to Whale listeners every year.

For all those years, we've partnered with Broome County CHOW during that time and in recent years, our sister radio stations have joined in to be part of this important food drive as well. Each year comes with its challenges. Last year was tough due to the pandemic, and rightly so, people may have been reluctant to go out in public.

But, just the same, many people did stop by with non-perishable food items or monetary donations. While the food donations are fantastic and very much appreciated, monetary donations whether by cash or check can help Broome County CHOW purchase a lot of food.

For example, one dollar allows CHOW to create five meals. That's amazing. But no matter what the donation, every dollar, every item of non-perishable food will help families in need during the holidays in Broome County. And a monetary donation may be easier for some to donate. Whatever works for you, helps either way.

So, we are back again. Our camper will be located in the parking lot of the Weis Food Market at 1290 Upper Front Street Binghamton from November 1st through the morning of November 8th, accepting your food or monetary donations to help put food on the table of families in our area. This is one of the largest yearly food drives for Broome County CHOW and they need our help more than ever.

In the past couple of years, the need for food donations has been greater, and with many out of work, the need is just as great this year. Thanks in advance for any help you can give us, and we look forward to seeing you the week of November 1st.
