Wegmans Recalls Camembert Cheese Over Listeria Concerns

Are you a cheese lover like I am? There aren't many types of cheese that I don't like. I love trying cheeses from around the world that I've never experienced before.

But this isn't about my love of cheese. It's about a cheese recall. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, an announcement was made on August 12, 2025, for a recall of various Wegmans Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese.

What Is This Foodborne Illness

The recall is because of a possible health risk, a potential foodborne illness - Listeria monocytogenes. According to the FDA:

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria nfection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. - U.S. FDA

These products were sold at all Wegmans stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

As of August 12, 2025, no illnesses associated with this recall have been reported to Wegmans or its supplier, according to the U.S. FDA.

The cheese items were sold between July 1 and August 12, 2025, and include:

Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese, 8.8 OZ, UPC: 77890-53515 with best by dates of 7/26/25, 8/12/25, and 8/19/25

Wegmans Assorted Cheese Flight, 1 LB, UPC: 2-77100-00000-0

Wegmans Grilling Camembert with Tapenade & Roasted Tomatoes, 10 OZ, UPC: 2-77297-00000-0

Wegmans Caramel Apple Pecan Topped Brie Cheese, 13 OZ, UPC: 2-77645-00000-3

What To Do If You Have Any Of These Products

Wegmans Markets has been making automated phone calls to alert customers who purchased these products using the Shoppers Club.

If you have purchased any of these products, the U.S. FDA advises anyone who has purchased any of these items to NOT consume the products. Return the product to any Wegmans service desk for a refund.
