It's tough watching the news. Every time I turned on the TV this weekend I saw pictures and videos from Houston Texas. Hurricane Harvey came in did a lot of damage. Then went back out to sea and now it looks like it's coming back in again.

I feel bad for all the people that live in Houston and are affected by all the water. The scene is nothing new for people in our area after going through our 500 year floods twice in a matter of six years. The first one in 2006 and the second one in 2011. People in our area look at the footage from Houston, and the ones that were affected here in town I'm sure, are having flashbacks. There are still people in our area that are still struggling because of those floods. There are businesses in our area that have yet to resurface because of those floods. Now we watch and we pray for Houston.

If you'd like to do something there are a couple different ways you can help. You can go to Redcross.org or call 1-800 Red Cross and make a donation. Also locally, the Community Baptist Church on 743 Chenango Street in Binghamton is helping to produce hygiene kits for Church World Services. The kits consist of; 10 standard Band-Aids, a hand towel, a washcloth, bath soap in its wrapping, one wide tooth comb, one toothbrush in its package, and either fingernail clippers or toenail clippers. Also include a 1-gallon Ziploc bag and $2 to help them ship all that to Houston. You can pick up all those products and drop them off at the church.

Also, you can donate blood through the Red Cross to help people in the Houston Area.
