We Had a Blast at the Finger Lakes Wine Festival
For the third time in the last four years, Chris and I attended the Finger Lakes Wine Festival at Watkins Glen International this past weekend.
As we did the previous two times, we went with our friends Doug and Lisa. This year, two more friends joined us, Holly and Rich.
Friday we spent the late afternoon hours setting up the camper while Rich and Holly set up their tent outside the camper. My wife Chris made her famous turkey in a bucket and we sat around drinking for the rest of the night.
Saturday afternoon we went to the festival itself. Over 70 wineries from all over New York State are featured at the festival and there are tons of vendors, food trucks, and distilleries there too. Saturday night we sat around outside the camper playing games and drinking next to our camp fire.
Sunday morning we woke up, had breakfast, and went back for day two of the Wine Festival. We didn't drink nearly as much on Sunday as we did Saturday because we were heading back home Sunday afternoon.
If you are a fan of wine you definitely want to check out this festival next year. It always held on the second weekend of July. You can buy day passes or weekend passes. And you can also camp there overnight in a tent or in a camper.
To make sure you are okay to drive home afterwards, the state police give every driver a breathalyzer before they let them leave Watkins Glen Raceway. If you fail the breathalyzer, they make you pull over in the parking lot and wait until you're sober enough to drive home.
