When the Coronavirus pandemic broke out in the middle of March, it forced the cancelation of many local events. A lot of the charity walks in our area were left with two choices, either cancel altogether, or turn their event into a virtual walk.

Every year the Mathews Auto Walkathon takes place to raise money for local charities that help children. This year the Mathews Auto Walkathon will take place and it's up to the walker how they want to walk.

You can either walk on the rail trail in Vestal on Saturday October 10th or Sunday October 11th anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., or you can walk around your neighborhood, around a track at your local school, or through a local park.  You can also walk virtually, which means that you can walk on a treadmill in the comfort and safety of you home.

With all the different ways to participate in the walk, there wont be any large gatherings.

For each mile you walk, Matthew's will donate $10 to local kids charities up to $25,000. The local charities that will benefit from the Mathews Auto walkathon include Toys for Tots, A Room Ro Heal, Lourdes Camp Hope for Kids, Mom's House, and Gigi's Playhouse.

You can also donate money to the cause. If you donate $25 or more, you will receive a complimentary t-shirt, while supplies last.
