Unregistered Gun and Ammo Clip Found in Worcester Traffic Stop
A South Carolina man is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon after New York State Police in Oneonta say they found him with an unregistered gun and an illegal large-capacity ammunition feeding device.
26-year-old Devin Smith of Irmo was arrested at 2:57 p.m. March 1 during a traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 88 in the Town of Worcester.
Troopers say during the stop, they found a gun in Smith’s glove box and found the weapon was not registered and had a 15-round magazine. New York State law prohibits magazines carrying more than ten rounds of ammunition.
Authorities say they also found a small amount of marijuana.
Smith is charged with felony weapon possession and misdemeanor counts of unlawful possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device and the violation of unlawful possession of marijuana.
He was ordered to appear in Town of Worcester Court later this month.
