United Health Services Facilities on List of Critically Low # of Beds
United Health Services Wilson Hospital, Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, Guthrie Clinic in Cortland, University Upstate and University Hospital SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, , and A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta are among those on a New York State Department of Health Department list of facilities that may be forced to delay non-essential procedures due to limited hospital capacity.
According to the D.O.H. listing of November 26, 37 hospitals in the state are at ten percent capacity or less.
Last week Governor Kathy Hochul signed an emergency declaration that would allow the Department of Health to limit non-urgent and non-essential procedures until January 15 where the number of beds had reached a critical low.
In Onondaga County, however, the County Executive, Ryan McMahon told reporters November 30 the state’s numbers were wrong. He said he had been in contact with all the hospitals and they are not at the capacity indicated by Friday’s report. He would not go into detail about the reasons behind the disparity.
