It's September. It's late summer. It's just about time for fall to take over and the fall foliage season to begin. While those of us who have lived in the Southern Tier of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania sometimes take the season for granted, and when you step back and think about it, you are reminded that our area has one of the most amazing autumn displays in the country.

New York State will soon be ablaze in color, and Governor Kathy Hochul announced weekly foliage reports will begin on September 8th on the I Love NY website. It will feature an interactive map updated each week, you will be able to see the changes across the state for fall foliage and the website will feature attractions to check out throughout the state among other cool features.

Governor Kathy Hochul mentioned just how much the fall season in New York State is an attraction to people from all over the world. It reminds me of a trip I took several years ago to Utah. I was speaking to a resident of the state exclaiming how beautiful her state was. I love the scenery of the Southwest, and then she mentioned to me how beautiful it must be to live in an area that has so much green to it. She had never been to our part of the country.

I never thought of it that way. She was right. The warm weather months give us amazing scenery and fall gives us a show that a lot of the country does not get to experience. At least not as brilliant anyway. Later this month through November, we will show the world how colorful the Twin Tiers can be, and you can track it from region to region across New York beginning September 8th.
