Binghamton Business Wants to Give Vets a Merry Christmas
I don't think we do enough to thank our veterans and current military members in this country.
Think about it, these brave young men and women are willing to risk their lives to protect us and keep our country free. They make the sacrifice of being away from friends and family for months if not years at a time.
Some saw battle and horrifying sites that they can never forget. Others, the lucky ones, who never fought while in the military, we're still on guard and willing to risk their life if they were called on to do so.
For way too many of these heroes, the return home is rough. Some come back home and have a hard time finding a decent job and working their way back into our society. That's why when I see something like this, I encourage everyone I know to help out by attending this event or making a donation if you can't go.
The Touch of Texas on Upper Front Street in Binghamton will be hosting the first "Christmas For Our Veterans". It will take place Friday night December 21st and feature three local bands, Trace of Life, The Kiil, and Smashing Atom.
Admission is just $5 at the door or $4 if you bring a donation that will help our local veterans this holiday season. Those donations include personal care items, such as; shaving cream, disposable razors, socks, combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, Etc.
The Touch of Texas will be donating half of the admission fee to our local veterans, and all veterans will be admitted free with their veteran ID.
Besides the awesome rock music, there will be basket raffles, 50/50 raffles, and an ugly sweater contest too.
So if you are going out that night please go to Touch of Texas and help our local veterans. Even if you have other plans that night that you cannot change, it would be awesome if you could drop off some personal care items at the event.
All the items will be distributed through the Southern Tier Veterans Association.
