Tompkins County Man Sentenced for Dealing Drugs in Broome

A Tompkins County man will spend 20 years in federal prison for selling crack cocaine, heroin and fentanyl in Broome County in 2018 and 2019.

31-year-old Shameek Halls was sentenced Wednesday, February 9 for convictions for drug trafficking and possessing firearms.

Officials with the U.S. Justice Department Northern District say the FBI and partner agencies seized three handguns, an AR-15 style weapon and ammunition as part of the drug trafficking investigation.

Officials say as part of his guilty plea, Halls admitted he possessed firearms to help him commit his drug trafficking crimes.

In addition to the prison time, Halls was ordered to forfeit ownership of money, guns and ammunition seized in the investigation and ordered to serve five years probation after being released from prison.

In addition to the FBI, several local law enforcement agencies were involved in the investigation including Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force and New York State Police.
