Today Is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
A lot of times being a police officer is a thankless job. Why do so many people dislike the police when they are just doing their job? Their job is to uphold the law.
I have received some speeding tickets in the past and yeah, I was upset that I was not let off with a warning. But the bottom line is, I was breaking the law.
These men and women are just doing their job. Even people that constantly complain about the police and make them out to be the bad guys, should take a second and realize that these men and women risk their lives every day to protect you. If your life was in danger you would call for the police and they would rush to help you, sometimes putting their own life at risk.
According to the National Day Calendar, today is the day set aside to show our appreciation for law enforcement officers.
My grandfather was a cop, my uncle was a cop, and while I was in high school, I toyed with the idea of going to college for criminal justice and becoming a police officer myself. So even though I get upset when I am handed a speeding ticket I realize that they are just doing their job and I deserved the punishment I received.
So thank you to our local police, our state police, and our Sheriff deputies. You are appreciated for your service and for the protection you provide to us. If you feel the same way, thank every cop you see today.
