Tioga Downs had informed the state that it furloughed employees as the race track, casino and resort were forced to close in March as the coronavirus pandemic exploded in New York.

According to the New York State Department of Labor WARN notification page, Tioga Downs filed a notice of possible job losses on July 13 under a “temporary plant closing” designation.

Under the January 7 amendment the Nichols facility says “The business has placed employees on furlough since March 16, 2020 and 68 employees if not recalled back to work will be terminated as of March 11, 2021.”

The filing with the Labor Department says Tioga Downs racetrack employs a total of 604 workers.
