A make-shift memorial is growing near the site where an eight-month-old girl was discovered in a pond just west of Owego.

Authorities say Ruby Franciscovich was pronounced dead at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City shortly after a state trooper pulled her out of the water.

The infant's father, 25-year-old Cody Franciscovich, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators say the family had been staying at the Deep Well Motel for about two months.

Ruby was reported missing early Sunday morning. State police discovered her father just west of the motel less than an hour after troopers were sent to the area.

Officials say Cody Franciscovich directed police to the pond behind St. Patrick's Cemetery where Ruby was found.

Flowers, balloons and stuffed animals have been placed near the cemetery entrance in memory of Ruby.

Her father is being held in Tioga County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Tioga town court Wednesday.

State police Tuesday afternoon said autopsy results were not available.
