Tennessee Wildfire Relief Effort in the Southern Tier

I don't think there is a week that goes by, that I don't tell someone and make reference to how giving of a community we are here in the Southern Tier.  It doesn't matter if it's a flood, a tornado or a hurricane in a distant land, people in the Southern Tier are always so giving.

The Washington Post reports that "two juveniles have been charged with aggravated arson in connection with the wildfires that ravaged two East Tennessee resort towns last week, killing 14 people and leaving nearly 150 others injured and damaging or destroying more than 2,400 properties."

While Dolly Parton has announced a special benefit telethon coming soon, with the help of a number of country artists, people in the Greater Binghamton area want to do more on a local level, to help our neighbors in East Tennessee.

Thanks to Jerry Wayman and JCW Trucking for organizing a Tennessee Wildfire Relief effort here in our area, a number of great local businesses have kindly offered to be drop off locations.  It's our hope that people will drop off non-perishable food donations and other daily supplies, to help get these people, back on their feet again.

According to Jerry, "we will be filling our tractor trailer with donations from the Greater Binghamton area.  We will be transporting these supplies to a consolidation facility H&M Bay in Federalsburg, Maryland who will ship all donations to Tennessee.  

Collection sites include:

• Chenango Sales Ford at 976 NY-12 in Greene
• Pine Ridge Groceries at 4086 NY-206 in Bainbridge
• Nu-Look Collision on 1036 Upper Front Street in Binghamton
