A Chenango Valley School District bus filled with nearly two-dozen children was hit by a vehicle that skidded on an icy driveway.

Authorities say the collision occurred just before 8:30 a.m. Friday on Phelps Street in the town of Dickinson.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the bus was transporting 23 children to Port Dickinson Elementary School.

Three children were evaluated by medics at the scene but were not reported injured.

Investigators say a Ford SUV slid down an ice-covered driveway into the path of the school bus. Both drivers tried to avert a collision but the front passenger corner of the bus struck the front driver's side door of the SUV, causing damage to both vehicles.

The children were transferred to another bus and taken to school. Once there, they were assessed by a nurse.

No traffic citations were issued.
