Susquehanna & Bradford to Get New U.S. Representative

Redistricting in Pennsylvania is apparently claiming one political career and residents of the Northern Tier may be represented by a new face.

The Associated Press reports U.S. Representative Fred Keller is changing his mind and says he won't run for reelection if he must face a primary election against another Republican incumbent.

Keller currently represents the 12^th Congressional District in Pennsylvania, as established in 2018 that includes Susquehanna and Bradford Counties.

In a statement Monday, February 28 Keller said, “I am not going to run against another member of Pennsylvania’s Republican Congressional Delegation.”

Pennsylvania’s highest court selected new boundaries for congressional districts last week, and Keller and U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson found their homes drawn into the same district, as the state adjusts to losing a seat. They represent vast swaths of northern Pennsylvania where population is shrinking or stagnant.

The 56-year-old Keller was elected in 2019 to fill the seat in the redrawn 12^th district which was vacated by the resignation of Tom Marion. Keller is the newest member of Pennsylvania’s delegation.
