A new law in New York State adds penalties to people who make bomb threats.

The measure signed yesterday by the Governor is in response to a string of threats made to Jewish Community Centers, including the JCC in Vestal, over the past year.

Threats were made to centers around New York State and elsewhere in the country but no injuries were reported.

The new law would make sure that suspects accused of making bomb threats against a community center face a minimum of up to a year in jail.
