Street Light Complaints Persist at Binghamton Apartment Complex

A Binghamton man is expressing frustration that several street lights have not been repaired despite repeated complaints.

Waldo Tomosky, who lives at Legacy Bay Townhomes, says the lights haven't worked for a year-and-a-half or perhaps even longer.

Tomosky said some street light issues were corrected after he advised Mayor Richard David of the problem in September of last year. But Tomosky said a "significant number" of lights still aren't working.

City councilman Giovanni Scaringi, who represents the massive apartment complex off Glenwood Road, had documented a dozen lights on Ely Park Boulevard that weren't operational last August.

After investigating the matter, Scaringi advised Tomosky that it appears the trouble is related to a drainage problem affecting buried electrical lines that feed the affected lights.

Many of the inoperative lights are around a sharp curve on the east side of the Legacy Bay property.

There are 414 apartments in the Legacy Bay complex.

Mayor David could not be reached Tuesday afternoon to discuss the street light issue.
