A Binghamton man faces felony charges after he allegedly drove away from a sheriff's deputy in a stolen vehicle.

48-year-old Chad Baker of Leroy Street was arrested following the pursuit that started at the Speedway store parking lot on Old Front Street in the town of Dickinson.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the 2008 Dodge Baker was driving matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen in Binghamton.

As a deputy prepared to approach the car around 4:15 a.m. Monday, Baker drove off. Several police units were involved in pursuing the vehicle on Front Street into the city.

The stolen vehicle eventually wound up on LaGrange Street. Baker pulled into a driveway at a dead end near Glenwood Cemetery, where he was taken into custody.

Investigators say a wallet possessed by Baker had been stolen during a burglary.

Baker has been charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a vehicle and two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
