Several locations in Broome, Tioga and other counties in the Southern Tier are participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day April 27.

Residents can drop off unwanted, expired and unused medications to keep them out of the environment or from falling into the wrong hands.

Acceptable medication can include anything from aspirin to controlled substances like Oxycodone.

In the last 6 months, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office collected about 1,400 pounds of medications for safe disposal.

Tomorrow’s collections in Broome take place at all locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Broome County Health Department on Front Street
