Businesses at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City are getting ready to gradually start serving customers again.

The regional retail complex has been idle for the past two months because of the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

Mall marketing manager Courtney Rozen said there still are plenty of questions over what activities will be allowed by the state as part of the first phase of restarting business in the Southern Tier.

Rozen said certain retail stores can begin providing curbside pickup on Friday. Many of the businesses at the mall are in the category covered in the initial phase.

The Oakdale Mall plans to establish a single curbside pickup point on the east side of the complex off Reynolds Road.

Rozen said signs will be in place to guide people where they will be able to pull up. Customers should not get out of their vehicles while waiting to obtain their purchases.

Rozen said those who visit the mall for curbside pickup should wear a face mask to protect themselves and store employees.

It's not known at this time when the mall complex itself will be permitted to reopen.
