This is a head scratcher. According to ESPN, it looks like the Eagles have traded running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso.

I am puzzled, because McCoy was successful and a start in Philadelphia, but I have my suspicions as to why this happened. Rumors are that Philly is gunning for draft position to get Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.

The Eagles also apparently let go of Cary Williams and Trent Cole. All these moves open up 31.75 million against the salary cap. It will take a boatload of that money to trade up spots for the draft, which is how they will need to do it to get Mariota who is projected to go either 1 or 2 in the draft.

Kiko Alonso is a product of Oregon, where Chip Kelly was his coach. Ditto Mariota. Get it? Look for Buffalo to possibly benefit from all this by adding Cole in the least.

I am excited to see McCoy work his magic in Buffalo. Things are looking up!
