Authorities say 57-year-old Thomas Joslin of North Syracuse has been indicted on three felony charges claiming he stole the cards while working for the United States Postal Service.

Joslin allegedly stole hundreds of dollars from gift cards from mail last year.

According to Syracuse.com, Joslin is accused of opening mail and stealing cards three times: a prepaid Mastercard in March, a Dick's Sporting Goods gift card in April and a prepaid Visa card in June.

Prosecutors did not indicate what prompted the investigation into the alleged thefts or when Joslin worked as a letter carrier.

Each of the charges carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
