Yesterday afternoon news broke that Chester Bennington, lead singer of the rock band Linkin Park, was found dead of an apparent suicide at the age of 41. He leaves behind six children.

Chris Cornell, the lead singer from Soundgarden and Audioslave, would have been 53 yesterday. Chris took his own life on May 18th of this year. Chester and Chris were great friends. Chester was the godfather of one of Cornell's kids. Bennington also sang at Cornell's funeral a couple of months back.

There isn't any indication that Cornell's birthday had anything to do with Bennington's action yesterday, but I'm sure he was depressed that Chris was no longer with us.

Depression is nothing to take lightly. Some people really believe in their mind, that the world would be a better place without them. That is just not true. Please, if you feel like you have reached your wit's end, I beg you, reach out for help. Don't be too proud to seek help. We all need help sometimes, don't let pride get in your way.

With that being said, I understand that with depression, or an addiction of some sort for that matter, medicine and therapy may not save everyone. But please, for yourself and everyone that loves you, give it a try. I may not know the pain you are feeling, but I know there are people out there that can help you. Don't let pride get in the way.

I'm not insinuating that either Cornell or Bennington refused to seek help. I have no way of knowing that.

If you need help, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-8255 for free confidential help. Call a friend, call 911 or call me. Please, just seek help first.

Rest in peace Chester and Chris. You are missed.
