Former Mayors John Bertoni and Michael Collella appeared April 29 with retired Chemistry professor Paul Connett at the Clark Street site where SungEel MMC Americas wants to recycle the batteries commonly used in electric vehicles and cell phones.

The protestors say the plans do not provide protections against pollution from incinerating the materials.

Current Mayor Linda Jackson says the developers have submitted necessary documentation to state regulators that meet and exceed Department of Environmental Conservation standards.
