There were no injuries reported as an estimated three inches of rain fell in an hour sending water gushing over roads.

Village officials said it may be days before all the debris has been removed and roads reopen.

Serious damage was reported to outdoor athletic fields at the Oxford Central School District.  Damage estimates are not available.

Throughout the region, scattered sudden downpours have raised some safety concerns.

No official advisories have been issued, but authorities are reminding people to be extra cautious around area waterways following the persistent pattern of unsettled weather that has seen rapid rises in stream levels.

Residents should especially keep a close eye on children and pets near rivers and streams and it is ill-advised to use the waterways for recreational purposes like kayaking until water levels go down and currents slow.
