One Day Deal: Fish Free in New York

New York State is again holding a free fishing day.

Residents can fish without a license any of the 7,500 lakes and ponds or 70,000 miles of rivers and streams on September 28, all to promote fishing, hunting and outdoor activities in the state.

The waiving of the fishing license requirements in New York coincides with National Hunting and Fishing Day, which is the fourth Saturday of September.

State officials say hunters and anglers contribute around $4.9 billion dollars to the economy in New York through spending, supports over 56,000 jobs and pays $623-million in state and local taxes.

There are several events planned around the state for the weekend as well as fall hunting opportunities.
