NWS: Two Tornadoes Touched Down in New York State Wednesday

While the area saw heavy rain and wind as Wednesday evening's storms rolled through, other parts of the state saw it even worse earlier in the day.

The National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in the state Wednesday afternoon. One was in Johnstown in Fulton County at around 2:24 p.m. The NWS says the tornado was rated an EF-1 on the enhance Fujita scale, with winds around 85 m.p.h.

WNYT says the second was in Saratoga Springs at 3:35 p.m. The Saratoga tornado was also rated as an EF-1 with wind speeds of 105 m.p.h. WNYT says there was damage to a home.

Fortunately, there weren't any injuries. Both tornadoes uprooted dozens of trees however.

According to the NYdatabase, these were the second and third tornadoes to hit New York state in 2019. The first was April 15 in the town of Fenton here in Broome County, when an EF-1 touched down.
