Road Construction Updates For Binghamton And Broome County

Road work/contruction continues throughout the Southern Tier of New York as summer presses on.

Some of the work continues in the areas of Henry Street and Water Street, Downtown Binghamton, as well as Main Street. Bridge work also continues in the Kirkwood area.

Every week brings a list of road work from Broome County. Here's what's scheduled for the week of July 20, 2026:

Cleaning ditches on West Chenango Road, Dunham Hill Road, Old Route 17, Hardie Road, Twist Run Road, & Terrace Drive
Culvert work on Bunn Hill Road, Old Newark Valley Road, Terrace Drive, Hardie Road, Ouaquaga Road, & Old Route 17
Blacktop repairs on Twist Run Road
Guide rail repairs on Nanticoke Road, Greenwood Road & Industrial Park
Mowing the right of way on county roadways
Striping county roadways with paint truck

Further northeast on Interstate 88, this is from the NYS DOT:

The westbound Exit 20 on-ramp of Interstate 88 will be closed from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 31, weather permitting, to accommodate resurfacing work. This closure is part of an ongoing project to resurface I-88 between the Otsego County line and Exit 20. In addition to paving, the project includes the installation of new guiderail to enhance safety and improve the long-term condition of the highway.

The interstate will remain open and is currently restricted to one lane of travel in each direction. Due to limited space for construction operations, the ramp must be fully closed during this phase of work, and motorists should follow the posted detour.
