New Johnson City, New York Mural Adding To Growing List of Local Public Art [GALLERY]

There is something about a mural that just brightens things up. It amazes me how a plain-looking brick wall can be transformed into a living splash of color just by the strokes of a talented artist.

I even enjoy seeing the murals that are painted on the side of the railroad cars as the train goes by. Some people may call it graffiti but it looks like art to me as they pass by.

You may not have heard but there is a new mural that is being painted in Johnson City. It is part of the district's Mural and Public Arts Program Project.

You'll be able to admire this wonderful piece of artwork on the corner of Avenue C and Main Street in Johnson City. It'll be called "The Johnson City Jazz Legends" and J Muzaca is in charge of bringing it to life.

Muzaca wants to honor local musicians, Dena Delrose,  Al Hamme, and "Slam" Stewart. If you find yourself saying, "I have NO idea who those people are" then Muzaca wants to help change that.

This is his way of bringing light to their work and he's hoping this will convince you to try and find out more about their music. According to WBNG-TV, he hopes to be done with the mural by this weekend, October 17th.

This is just one of many murals and mosaics that are being planned for Binghamton, Endicott, and Johnson City. The Broome County Planning Department plan to create 27 more in the next three years.
