Motorcyclist Dies After Three-Vehicle Crash in Tioga County

A vehicle slammed into a motorcycle and another oncoming vehicle in Tioga County, resulting in the death of a 77-year-old man.

Authorities say Robert Spaulding of Ithaca died at a hospital shortly after Sunday afternoon's crash in the town of Richford.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Route 79 near Terrell Road,

Investigators say an eastbound vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane, striking the motorcycle and another vehicle which were traveling west.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, along with the operator of the westbound vehicle and a passenger, were taken to hospitals with various injuries.

The sheriff's office did not release the names of the others who were involved in the crash.

Officials did not indicate whether any tickets have been issued. The investigation is continuing.
